Job Description:
Tutors will be part of an online writing service to which high school and college students submit written works and receive critique. Tutors won't proofread or edit the essay for the student; rather, they will help guide the student towards appropriate revisions.

Qualifications:
-Undergraduate Degree in a writing intensive field (e.g. Literature, Sociology, and so on)
- Knowledge and experience in all or most of the following areas: coursework, rhetoric, composition, literature, thesis writing, and creative writing
-Strong written English communication skills (particularly when it comes to analytical thinking, grammar and vocabulary)
-Good computer and typing skills
-Patience
- Substantial writing experience (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and so on)
- Teaching experience for ESL (English as a Second Language) and EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students (*preferable, but not required)

Call for Participants: PBBY-NBDB Salaysayan 2008

Application forms are now available for this year’s PBBY-NBDB Salaysayan, a nationwide storytelling contest. Organized by the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) and the National Book Development Board (NBDB), Salaysayan 2008 is a project that encourages a love for reading and children’s books through the celebration of the Filipino’s talent for storytelling.

The contest is open to both amateurs and professionals aged 21 and above. Only those whose duly accomplished Application Forms are officially received by PBBY by August 31, 2008 will be accepted as contestants. Before the actual competition, interested parties must attend the orientation sessions on the rules of the competition, as well as accepted storytelling methods.
Only 10 contestants shall make it to the finals on September 16, 2008 at the Manila International Book Fair.

Judges for both the eliminations and grand finals shall be designated by the PBBY. There will be two categories: English and Filipino. Prizes for the winners of each category shall be: P15,000 for the First Prize; P7,000 for the Second Prize; and, P3,000 for the Third Prize. Only books published from 2005-2008, and those not in this list are allowed as contest pieces for the NBDB-PBBY Salaysayan 2008.

Exhibit of Best-Loved Children’s Book Characters

After surveying hundreds of Filipino children, here is an exhibit of life-size sculptures of the 25 best-loved children's book characters. The sculptures are done by members of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang InK).

Sultana Affairs Management, a four-year old events management agency is in dire need of writers of the creative variety. They do creative conceptualization, full-show production of events (both corporate and otherwise), professional video and photo services, and all the other things you can relate to event coordination and implementation.
